Researchers surprisingly found that men with prostate cancer had a higher amount of omega-3's in their blood.
These risks don't necessarily counterbalance positive effects, but some people are at higher chance of cancer risk than others.
ReplyDeleteHow specifically do omega-3s increase risk of prostate cancer?
I learned that the carcinogenic affects of omega-3s are that they can actually increase your likelihood of getting cancer by 43% and a more dangerous type of cancer by 71%.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the public uninformed about this misconception and what can be done to get this information out?
Learned: Omega-3's can increase the risk of prostate cancer by 71% in men.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Could the method of consuming the omega-3's influence the chance of someone getting prostate cancer. (I.E. Fish, pills, beef, etc.)
Learned: I learned from this that doctors expected a diet full of omega-3s to have a beneficial impact on one's prostate health, but found that it actually significantly increased the individual's risk for prostate cancer
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Do we know what biological processes/factors connect omega-3s with prostate cancer?
Omega-3s caused an increase in the risk for prostate cancer among men by 43%.
ReplyDeleteIs there any research conducted to explain the association between omega-3s and an increased chance of having prostate cancer?
Research has shown that men with prostate cancer actually have a higher amount of omega-3s in their blood. What may be a factor in the omega-3s that is causing prostate cancer?
ReplyDeleteSomething I Learned: There are some Omega-3 effects that are apparently negative. Since cancer is a serious issue, this means the benefits need to be weighed out with the benefits.
ReplyDeleteQuestion I still had: What levels of Omega-3 need to be consumed before these risks become relevant?
Something I learned is that the people who consume the high-content of Omega-3 will have a higher chance to gain prostate cancer.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: How does the Omega-3 chemically affect the prostate?
One question:
ReplyDelete(1) Was there any correlation with a predominantly female disease/ailment? If not, did you find a relationship between hormone levels, omega 3s, and prostate cancer?
