APOE4 is a gene which has a high probability of late-onset Alzheimer's, and the consumption of DHA cannot prevent the cognitive decline.

  1. E2 is the best gene for reducing the risk of Alzheimer's. How does the body gain more E2?

  2. I learned that your probability of getting Alzheimer's has to do with the type of alleles you have and DHA's impact on Alzheimer's patience is also based on the type of alleles you have.
How do you know what type of alleles you have yourself so that you can know how DHA will affect you?

  3. Something I learned:
ApoE4 and its abilities to transport cholesterol can have large affects on the cognitive decline of a person.

    Question I still Have:
If DHA has little to no effect on ApoE4, then how does DHA have an impact on cognitive decline, or does it at all (Could the studies just be incorrect?)?

  4. I learned what ApoE4's are and the negative effects they have to physiological functions. More specifically with brain function and synapses. I wonder what are good ways to avoid these and what is a healthy level.

  5. Learned: I learned that the E4 allele is the most commonly found allele in ApoE, but that it also increases your risk of getting Alzheimer's more so than the other alleles.

Question: I still am unsure how omega-3s and DHA are connected with ApoE4

  6. Something I learned from this is that the alleles comprised in the apoliprotein increases the risk of Alzheimers since the transport of cholesterol is worsening.

Question: How did scientists discover what makes each allele give a different function.

  7. Learned: The function of the Gene ApoE is to transport cholesterol and beta amyloids. The E2/E2 gene has a reduced chance of having Alzheimers.

Question: What about the ApoE4 gene increases the likelihood of Alzheimer?

  8. ApoE4 is the worst allele to have because it reduces cholesterol transport. This has physiological ramifications.

Question: How exactly do APOE and DHA interact if ApoE is a gene in your DNA?

  9. One question:
    (1) Could you find what physiological effect or mechanism is specifically affected by ApoE4 compared to the other forms that prevents any effect of DHA?
